ssrt0359 redux...

As I was bringing down the dxconsole patch, I was reminded of the
syslog/libc patch (ssrt0359). If I remember, there were some problems
people encountered installing that patch. Could someone refresh my
memory on this and better yet, have the problems with the patch been
resolved?
