Sorry for the late summary; I was hoping to get some time to get this
done successfully.
I got one reply from Paul A. Sand to try Aladdin ghostscript. Thanks Paul.
This is available from ftp.cs.wisc.edu in ghost/aladdin. I did pull it over
but ran into some problems building the code, and eventually ran out
of time, and postponed the task to another day. I will, however, pursue
building Aladdin ghostscript in my (copious) "spare" time.

My original post:
I copied over ghostview and ghostscript from prep.ai.mit.edu /pub/gnu/ this
morning and built ghostview and gs. I have culled all the files in
/users/ghostview/tmp. My path now has /users/ghostview/tmp. When I run
ghostview ghostview.ps I get an error in the window

At the command line, the error I get is
Unaligned access pid=2816 <ghostview> va=11ffff114 pc=1200106f4 ra=120010510 type= ldq
I get errors when I look at most postscript files, but other files like the
golfer.ps file comes in fine.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
My version of Digital UNIX is V3.2D-1.
