My original question was:

The majority of answers stated I can't assign a single IP address to
two Ethernet interfaces and that it would be useless to connect the two
interfaces on the same LAN segment since an Alpha can easily saturate
a segment with a single interface. I agree!
I then clarified that I wanted to connect to a multi-port bridge and
then the suggestions were to assign an IP address to both interfaces
and split the connections between the two adresses or go to something
faster than Ethernet. I am considering both options.
