Hi all.

AlphaStation 250 running DU 3.2C

I haven't found any information in the archives on this error. Hoping for a
few insights on the setup of DU's standard POP server I did all the
instructions in the Digital crib sheet for setting up popd. But I receive the
following error message when attempting a retrieval.

[7] ---> -ERR unable to lock maildrop "/usr/spool/pop"

Telneting into the host, "telnet hostname 110", brings me to the POP server
with the following response.

[6] servicing 'ip address'/1066
[7] ---> +OK host.name.edu POP server ready (Comment to: PostM...)
[7] <--- USER 'username'
[7] ---> +OK password required for 'username'
[7] <--- PASS <passwd>
[7] ---> -ERR unable to lock maildrop: "/usr/spool/pop"
[7] <--- QUIT
[7] ---> +OK

The permission for the /usr/spool/pop was set to global.
I'm questioning the "/usr/spool/pop" line that was added to the POP file
database in favor of the users actual maildrop but have had no success
so far. I have no prior experience setting up a POP server and am relying
on what I can read. If anyone has a config file from the POP file database,
(sans passwd field), and a few other pointers I would be ever grateful.
Will add a summary when available. T.I.A.
