Hi all,
I have been through the archives and have spent a lot of time with Gordon's
message from this morning, but I'm still stumped.
I am running DU 3.2d on an Alpha Workstation 600 5/266 and am trying to have my
print jobs spool locally and print directly to my hplj4si rather than spool
through another machine on my network.
The printer has an ip address and the ethernet card is in the /etc/services
file. Here's my problem, my printcap file looks like this:
hplj4si1|lp|lj4|bof:\
:af=/usr/adm/lpacct:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
:lp=:\
:ct=network:\
:if=/usr/lbin/hplaserof:\
:of=/usr/lbin/hplaserof:\
:mx#0:\
:pl#66:\
:pw#80:\
:rm=hplj4si1:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/lj4:\
:sh:
and when I send a print job to the printer I get this message from lpc status:
hplj4si1:
printer is on remote host hplj4si1 with name text
queuing is enabled
printing is enabled
1 entry in spool area
Mon Apr 29 13:57:38 1996: waiting for hplj4si1 to come up
If anyone can see what I'm either a) missing (besides my sanity) and/or b) doing
wrong, I would greatly appreciate your input.
As always, many thanks,
Nicci
