Thanks to all those people who responded. I was basically asking if
anyone had any bad experiences of adding an external IBM starfire disk to
an AlphaStation, as we'd been given a good offer on one of these.
The consensus was that there should be absolutely no problem with an IBM
disk. I apologise for being cautious, but I have had some nasty
experiences with IBM incompatibility problems (incompatible with other
IBM products, no less!). Most people seemed to think that, if anything,
IBM disks are really well made and match SCSI standards better than some
other manufacturers.
Looks like we're going to go ahead and buy it - that's one users space
problems sorted! Thanks everyone.
