Greetings All,
I recently installed DU 3.2D-2 on an AlphaStation 255. The short
version of this story is that Motif is not starting. For anyone who is
thinking that my video controller requires Open 3D, I tried installing
Opend 3D and that didn't resolve the problem.
DU seems to correctly identify the card (see system info below) during
boot, but the font doesn't change at that point (which I've found to be a good
inidcation that the graphics driver is installed properly). Otherwise, the boot
looks normal except for this message:
"module 1011:d not in PCI option_data_table: can't configure".
I don't know if this refers to the video controller or not.
I've also tried starting Motif manually, but I remain in text mode and
the system doesn't produce any error messages.
My configuration:
AlphaServer 255/300
o SRM console v6.0-943, OSF PAL code v1.46-1
o 192 MB system memory
o RZ29D-VA
o PBXGB-AA graphics controller ("PowerStorm 3D30 8-plane")
-the console reports it to be "Digital TGA2 Graphics Controller"
o DU 3.2D-2
I couldn't proove that video controller is working correctly (well,
except that I'm getting text on my monitor), but I don't think I have a
hardware issue.
Has anyone seen this problem? Suggestions?
