Hi Managers,
We use PathWorks v5.0f server (and 5.0 clients) and there's a
HP-IIP printer connected to a client PC via parallel port.
I defined it as a shared LAT printer.
Our DEC3000/300 (DU 3.2c) reaches it via LAT device (tty07).
My users asked why printing was very slow, so I had checked /etc/printcap
file and had set baud rate 19200 from 9600. I restarted all daemons and
printing had stopped: lpc said that no daemons had been presented for my
que.
gigaque:
printer is on device '/dev/tty07' speed 19200
queuing is enabled
printing is enabled
1 entry in spool area
no daemon present
When I replaced original settings and restarted daemos printing had been
started:
gigaque:
printer is on device '/dev/tty07' speed 9600
queuing is enabled
printing is enabled
1 entry in spool area
Wed May 22 09:36:37 1996: waiting for lock on gigaque
My printcap file is for this printer:
gigaque|lp1:\
:br#9600:\
:ct=LAT:\
:fc#0177777:\
:fs#01:\
:if=/usr/lbin/hplaserof:\

How can I speed up printing? Please help!
Best regards,
