I'm posting this summary now because I quickly received several good ideas
from this terrific list, but will be unable to implement them until I can
take this "production" system down, or it starts crashing again!

Apparently, "vrele" is a vnode handling routine, and there are patches
that should fix this problem:

Patch ID: OSFV20-010-1
Patch ID: OSFV20-015-2
Patch ID: OSFV20-120-3

It was also suggested that we upgrade to 3.0 as soon as possible
(scheduled for three weeks from now). If I get a chance, I'll
install the *VET* subsets and do a diskx on our UFS disks to see if one of
them is failing.

We are not running LSM (I should have mentioned that), but did do an fsck
on each of our UFS mounted drives and did not receive any errors.
