    Fellow OSF Managers,

We have (had) a 2100/275 with two 4/275 processors running DU
3.2D-1. We are using AdvFS over top of an HSZ40 with two logical
disks (2 domains, 1 fileset, 2 filesets). We are using this
system to run Oracle, SAS, and NetSite.

The errors we have had have almost all been simple_lock errors.
We applied the complete patch set from Digital Support and this
seemed to increase the frequency of the crashes from 1 every few
days to one every few hours. It also changed the panic string
from "simple_lock: time limit exceeded" to "simple_lock:
    unitialized lock".

We have currently switched back to a single CPU system and are not
having any crashes, but we would like to be able to run SMP. Is
anyone out there running a similar system? Does anyone know what
the problem could be? Digital support has not been terribly
helpful with this one (ongoing problems since Feb).

    Regards,
    Mandell Degerness
