There were a few responses. Seems like Netscape 3.0 doesn't know how to
handle (yet?) when the default visual is 8 planes on a 24 plane display.
The solutions are two:
a) Change default visual to 24 planes (which I can't do for other
reasons)
b) Run netscape as: netscape -visual PseudoColor
Option (b) works great for me now!
