RPC.LOCKD gains wait?

We have an environment with over 100 PCs connected thru NFS (Hummingbird)
with our DU boxes. The main server always gets the following message:

Jun 5 06:27:54 sibd002 vmunix: NFS server: stale file handle fs(312,9067) file 1542 gen 32882
Jun 5 06:27:54 sibd002 vmunix: RFS3_GETATTR, client address = 142.80.128.9, errno 22

... a lot of them!

As a side effect of this the rpc.lockd groes out of proportion (SZ=100M
and RSS=5M) and all NFS access are very slow.

Anyone encountered this scenario?

Thanks,
/jean
