FTP

Dear Managers,

Please advise me if this is an inappropriate subject for this group.

I am configuring FTP, on a Alpha 1000, running Unix. I am using the
Netscape communication servers.

I don't really want (or need) anonymous FTP, but I do want (and need)
user FTP. My problem is when I turn on FTP and a user (defined using the
Netscape communication server HTML pages) access FTP, they default to the
base directory, not their home directory as specified in the PASSWD file.

I have some work to do with regards to security access related to my
directory and files, Currently any such defined user can view when FTP
is allowed. I have turned FTP until I resolve this issue.

My need is to allow PPP users to add and maintain their own web pages,
These users will be Netscape Personal Navigator users which provides a
simple upload feature. I want these users to be defaulted and restricted
to a single directory for FTP purposes.

All the information I have located so far really only discusses anonymous
FTP, which I don't currently have a need for.

Advice or pointers to usable documentation would be very much
appreciated.
