Hello all.
We recently got our NSR software and license to use our 10 tape stacker from
DEC. The drive is a Cybernetics 8mm extabyte 10e which works just fine with
the Unix standard dump and restore (and vdump and vrestore) but has problems
with NSR.
The NSR software gives a SUCCESSFUL DUMP message, but any attempt to restore
from the tapes created fails, with an error about reading a record on the
tape.
Question: Has anyone been successful in restoring from the NSR software?
(2nd question: is anyone using it but never TRIED to restore :( ). Our 8mm
tape drive has been working fine, but the software support folks say that
they recommend 4mm or DLT. I've never had a problem with dump and vdump,
so I don't know if I believe this recommendation.
Any info from other NSR sites appreciated.
The general success message looks like the following:
NetWorker savegroup: (notice) Default completed, 1 client (All Succeeded)
Start time: Thu Jun 6 03:00:02 1996
End time: Thu Jun 6 03:43:48 1996
The error messages comes up during the restore as
