I'm trying to set up a /23 CIDR block which should have a netmask of
255.255.254.0. However, when I configure my Alpha with that netmask
for some reason it takes the 254 and turns it back into a normal .255
class C subnet mask (according to ifconfig).
It's almost as if the system is looking at the network address (which
is in the class C 192.0.0 -> 223.255.255] block) and deciding that I
can't possibly want a network block which is actually bigger than that
designated by the network address.
This is on a 3.2D system, and it looks like a bug to me... :-(
