First of all, I'm a happy user who has no stock or any other interest in
Cybernetics. And this product works on my 8200.
If you have a lot of data that you need to back up, I'm quite happy with
my CY9000 from Cybernetics. I can write to it from 8 to 12 mbytes/sec
from my HSZ40's. For 250Gb (not all of which is full) I get a full system
backup in 4-5 hours. The tape drive is rated at 20MB/s.
The media is hard to find (and $120 a pop) but each tape holds 210GB+.
The reason I mention this is it seems everyone I talk to about big system
backups is unaware that the CY9000 exists. If you have a small backup
window, and a lot of data, call Marty J Campbell at 804-833-9000. Tell
her Ry sent you... probably won't get you anything at all, but you never
know.
Oh yeah, it works fine on my 8200 hanging off the IOM, and it also works
fine off of a KZPSA. It looks to the system to be a tzxx, a generic tape
drive. You need to tinker a bit to get a good blocksize match from disk
to tape.
