I just had an RZ29B-VA go out this week, and the digital repair guy said
that the RZ29B-VA's are failing a lot more often than they should be. Has
anyone else seen above-average failures in this model? I've had one go
south, and my system only has 70 drives in it (60 29's, 1 2GB, 9 1GB).
None of these drives are very old.
If there is a flaw in the 29B, maybe we could pool data and determine a
realistic failure rate.
Also, the CY-9000 tape drive I spoke of this week allowed me to recover
from a full backup in under 6 hours. Whew!
