Subject: Re: Disktab entry for HP C3725S
for my difficulty. Thanks, Gyula.
As a result, the disktab entry for "HP C3725S" is not necessary.
Instead the following command can write the geometry info into
the disk.
disklabel -wr rz5 rzXX
In my case, "disklabel -wr rz3 rz3" went fine.
Here is my original question,
-------------------------- from here ---------------------------
I bought a disk called "HP C3725S" and connected to my machine
(DECpc AXP150 running OSF/1 V2.0) physically. But there is no
entry for the disk in my /etc/disktab. Does anybody have the
entry of disktab for "HP C3725S" including the sample definition
of the partitions ? I've found the following entry on a web called
"CMI" ( or something like that ):
HP_C3725S_noswap:\
:No swap or boot:ns#125:nt#9:nc#1864:\
:s0#2097000:b0#8192:f0#1024:\
:se#1024:rm#5400:
but it seems not to have enough info to use, and I don't know
whether the above entry can be used on my machine or not.

and Gyula's suggestion.

What happens if you just let the OS figure it out?
disklabel -wr rz5 rzXX
(change rz5 to the right SCSI id, and keep the 'rzXX' -- it means go and
figure it out). You can also get out geometry info with the 'scu' utility.
