User-friendly debugger

Hi managers,
I'm looking for a (DEC C/C++ compatible) dbx substitute that is a bit
more user-friendly (e.g. allows command line editing with arrow keys)
and/or has an X11 frontend that is less primitive than xdbx (and does
not print a ^M after each line of output). Something like the VMS
debugger perhaps, preferably with fewer bugs... ;-)

BTW We are running OSF/1 v2.0a thus the latest concoctions from
DEC might not work (I'm in fact looking for a free tool).

Thanks in advance
Steffen.
