Need help with i3D vrml browser

Gurus,

 I just installed the i3D vrml browser on an Alpha 3000/300 - OSF 3.2. I
 also installed the OPEN3D/OpenGL subsets as the install instructions
 state. However, the browser gives the following errors when invoked:

 $ i3d -s $I3D_HOME/3d/penguin_world.3d.Z
  Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "bolero:0.0".
  Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "bolero:0.0".
  Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "bolero:0.0".
  Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "bolero:0.0".
  FATAL : Could not select a valid visual in line 192 of file dec_alpha/optimized/gcc/OGL_Window.cc
  Exiting...

 I ran xdpyinfo and DEC-PEER-GLX was listed as an extension. Is this
 correct? Can I map DEC-PEER-GLX to GLX?
