Question: DU 4.0 dump can not handle stdout

Hello everyone:
  I am running Digital Unix 4.0 (rev386) on a DEC 3000. When I tried to
dump a UFS file system to standard-out, (/usr/sbin/dump 0f - /dev/rrz3a)
I got this error message:

The available blocks(0),is less than the estimated blocks(54102)
Dump is being aborted

If I dump to a file, it works ok.

I have same problem on two DEC 3000 machines (400 and 300 models).

It seems that dump is treating stdout as a tape of size 0 !

Any comment/similar experience/fixes?

Thanks;
Wei
