Network problems

Hi managers,

I got problems in using network services with my new
(factory installed) AlphaStation 600.

My environment:
 Digital AlphaStation 600 5/333
 128 MB memory
 tu0: DECchip 21040-AA: Revision: 2.4
 tu0 at pci256 slot 0
 tu0: DEC TULIP Ethernet Interface,
 _hardware address: 00-00-F8-21-25-86
 tu0: console mode: selecting BNC
 _(10Base2) port

"uname -a" tells me
OSF1 msfp59.gwdg.de V3.2 41 alpha (that's DU 3.2D I think).

The machine shares the thinwire cable with some computers.

The problem:

Using a nfs service result in error messages like
Jul 3 16:00:33 msfp59 vmunix: NFS3 server rbox not responding still trying
Jul 3 16:01:23 msfp59 vmunix: NFS3 server rbox ok

Using ftp shows dramatic low performance, 30 times slower than
other an alpha connected to the same ethernet cable.

Question:

Do you know any software problem or is it the hardware?

TIA
Gerhard
