Hi, gurus
When we add a secondary CPU to an AlphaServer 2100 4/275, it generates a
crash, sometimes at boot time, sometimes while running. I think this
problem is due to Informix V5.01 (which as i understand does not support
SMP), but the guys from Informix say that we can put two, three or four
CPU's, and the worse thing that can happen is that Informix won't work
with them. Actually i don't trust them totally, as far as we have a
simmilar configuration up and running, but with Informix v.7.0 (which
supports SMP).
Looking at /var/adm/crash/crash-data.0, we can see the following stack:
0 stop_secondary_cpu() [*../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/cpu.c":352,
0xfffffc000457ce8]
1 panic (s=0xfffff............... = "event_timeout:panic request")
["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/subr_prf.c":664....]
2 event_timeout(func = 0xffff....., arg=0xff...., timeout=1717776432)
["../../../../src/kernel/arch/alpha/cpu.c".698.....]
3 xcpu_puts(s=0xfff........., prfbufp = ...........)
["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/subr_prf.c":802......]
4
printf(va_alist=-43980.....)["../../../../src/kernel/bsd/subr_prf.c....]
5 panic(s......
6 afault_print(va=........
7 _XenUna(0x0, .......
8 port_set_allocate(0xff.......
9 undo_scan(0xff......
10 do_scan (.....
11 select
12 syscall(0x12......
13 _Xsyscall(0x8.......
_stack_trace[1]_end:
And the panic string is:
_panic_string:0xffffc000056aad0 = "Unaligned kernel space access from
kernel mode"
, which happens immediately after starting the secondary cpu 1
Does anyone knows about a patch or something like that, which leaves an
stack like this??
I'll call Customer Support Service, but i know they are some slower than
this list.
Thanks in advance
