mtools question...

OK, Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but I can't seem to move a file
FROM a floppy to the Alpha using mcopy. I've read the man page and
tried every permutation I can think of..

> mcopy a:*.* .
> mcopy a:/*.* .
> mcopy 'a:/*.*' .
  -etc-

In each case I get an immediate return to the shell prompt, no error,
no data transfer, the disk light does not light, nothing.

What am I missing?
