We have in our office a DEC 3000 Model 500 system with 128 MB installed
memory. We are interested in possibly upgrading the machine to 256 MB
memory. The current memory configuration in the machine is as follows:

        Bank# Memory Size
          0 32
          1 32
          2 32
          3 32
          4 0
          5 0
          6 0
          7 0
------------------------------
                                  128 MB

>From my understanding in order to upgrade the machine to 256 MB we would
need to purchase a total of sixteen 8 MB modules to be placed in banks 4-7.
However after briefly talking and getting a quote from our Digital Sales
Rep, he hinted without knowing for sure without further research that we
would need to purchase 256 MB now because we can not mix the memory we have
installed on the machine (128 MB was factory installed about 3 yrs ago)
with what Digital has available now. The quote has on it the product
description of MS15-DA. The price per MB is around $70.

Does anyone know another vendor I can get the memory from other than
directly thru Digital? Also, will I have to replace the memory I have
installed now in order to get 256 MB on the machine. And if that is the
case, does anyone know where or if I can sell back the memory in there now
either to Digital or somewhere else?

Thanks in advance.
