Hi Gurus,
I had a litle doubt about the DECserver...
We are planning to build a subnet via a MODEM line (maybe its a WAN?),
and for tests purpose we don't want to buy a router.
The DECserver has commands to configure DNS and GATEWAYs on it (I saw
it on the docs), but can I plug a subnet (two or three PCs) on one of
this local ports and route IP packets to the subnet via it???
Someone like this:
MyNet -------+---------- <-- IP a.b.C.xxx
|
DECserver
+-------MODEM ----- MODEM --- PC1 <-- IP a.b.D.xxx
+---- PC2 ---- PCn
Is it possible, or I need a router for this ??? I know if I need more
bandwith and stability I need a router, but for a cheap (and dirty) test
solution it is possible ? Someone have made it before ?
thanks in advance,
Antonio.
