Greetings managers:
I have a 2100 4/275 with one of those three channel PCI backplane
raid controllers on it.
I'm running through some tests before I put it into production.
I configured one raid set for raid-5 with a four disks, one
used up for parity and one for a hot spare.
I went through the entire configuration last friday afternoon,
and left while the initialization process (writing zeroes to the
logical drive) was going.
Well. This morning one of the drives (a mix of rz28 style drives)
had it's amber ``fail'' light on, and the ascii picture of the raid array
on the ARC console had the drive marked ``failed''.
The ARC software insisted that I reboot.
I can't get back to normal console mode, a power cycle gets
me past the initial system probes, until it gets to the IO subsystem
probe. There it hangs in a loop with:
waiting for dra.0.0.6.0 to poll
coming out forever (OK, for as long as I waited, 20 or more times :-).
This condition is persists whether I try to powercycle with all the drives
slid into their slots, or with the suspect failed drive removed, or
with all drives, even the one on the internal controller that
has OSF on it, removed.
This error message is not listed in my docs, including the hardware
manual, and the storageworks Installation & Configuration guide. It
is not mentioned any of the places I looked on DSNlink, either.
Anyone have any suggestions?
-Mike
