He can restore them from a backup or the distribution. A
backup would be the first choice. Before V4.0 the subsets
are compressed tar archives, so extracting the missing
files is pretty easy. It may be easiest to delete the
affected subsets (if not the BASE or other required subset)
and reinstall.
The problem has been solved.
