tcpdump ...

Hi managers,

I tried to get tcpdump (DU4.0) working. Since a have some experience
with tcpdump on Linux, the behaviour on the Alpha's seems to be strange.

First of all, I put

 -> options PACKETFILTER in the kernel config file

then (as mentioned in man packetfilter)
     # cd /dev
     # MAKEDEV pfilt

then doconfig, reboot etc.

Now when I do a #tcpdump ... ->> a lot of packets

BUT when I perform a #tcpdump host <hostname> ...nothing appears
                                                   ( even tcpdump on my
                                                     linux box shows a
                                                     lot of traffic
                                                     related to this host.)

Any ideas
