I described an NFS access control cacheing problem in which root access over
NFS was erroneously permitted (despite root=nobody mapping) after I had read
the file as myself.
One other person said they had observed the problem, but John Kohl hit the
nail on the head by pointing out that this is an ancient NFS V2 problem and
expressing surprise that this was not fixed in V3.
I then realised that I AM doing a V2 mount. When I try the same thing using
NFS V3, the problem goes away.
In case anybody is interested, the reason I'm using V2 is that we still
haven't found a version of "amd" that does V3 mounts.
