Until yesterday I was running OSF/1 v3.2 on my alphastation 200 4/166 and
I had mapped my keyboard to norwegian_pcxalkn.keymap.

After installing(1) DU v4.0 I do not manage to get my PCXAL-FN norwegian
keyboard to work as before.
I had modified /usr/var/X11/xdm/keymap_default and I restored the link to:

/usr/var/X11/xdm/keymap_default ->
/usr/lib/X11/keymaps/norwegian_pcxalkn.keymap.mod

-and changed;
halfdan ~$ diff /usr/var/X11/xdm/Xkeymaps /usr/var/X11/xdm/Xkeymaps~
56d55
< # PCXAL
69,70c68
< # Her la jeg til .mod bakerst paa linja
< 146 Norsk norwegian_pcxalkn.keymap.mod
---
> 146   Norsk                   norwegian_pcxalkn.keymap
-because the man-page stated:
# The following lines must contain: <number> <language>
<keymap-filename>
#
# The <number> field is a 2-byte hex value where the first byte
# represents the keyboard type and the second byte is the value of the
# console's language variable. The values for the keyboard types are:
#               LK401   0
#               PCXAL   1
I do not run the CDE, but keep to vtwm if that matter.
I would much appreciate your answer!
(1) I did not do a complete reinstallation nor sucessive upgrades as the
book states but upgraded directly. This was all fine until I ran
/usr/sbin/updadmin and removed obsolete system files. This action removed
several libraries under the /usr/shlib-directory. The missing files was
restored from a similar system that had had a complete reinstallation.
Seems OK again.
