Hello all. Our department has recently acquired several units of Digital
Alphastation 500/333 running Digital Unix 4.0. Since day 1, we are getting
error messages with several X programs, most notably netscape. The following
is taken from the error output:
==============================================================================
netscape: X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Serial number of failed request: 2591
  Current serial number in output stream: 2741

netscape: X Error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
  Major opcode of failed request: 70 (X_PolyFillRectangle)
  Resource id in failed request: 0xc00177
  Serial number of failed request: 2592
  Current serial number in output stream: 2741
...
...plus other lines of error messages due to invaolid Pixmap.

=============================================================================

Netscape does go ahead and work properly, but some of our users' programs
failed to run.

Is there anyway of changing the Xserver configuration so that there will
be sufficient resources for operations and cause X_CreatePixmap to succeed?

TIA

Best regards,
