Remote reboot of a machine

We're setting up a farm of 16 Alpha workstations. We've already
ordered a DigiBoard PC32em ISA card that supports 16 serial lines to
wire up the workstation consoles.

We'd also like to find some way to remotely power-cycle or reset the
machines. Dave Cherkus suggested using X-10 controllers that are
commonly used for controlling home appliances & lights. However, the
workstations will be on a UPS unit, and we don't think the X-10
signals (which go through the power line) will make it past the UPS.

We believe that a reset would be sufficient, but on occasion a real
power-down is needed, so we're probably just willing to toggle the
power.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than X-10 units?
