Hello Managers,
I've encountered a strange problem while trying to use the CDE
calendar manager. After running the calendar manager (either by clicking on
the icon or issuing /usr/dt/bin/dtcm), I get an error message window stating:
rpc.cmsd is not responding for your username.
Make sure the inetd process is running and the entry
in inetd.conf for rpc.cmsd is correct for your host.
This error occurs for any user on this machine. I tracked the problem
down only this far: the calendar server daemon, rpc.cmsd, will not run.
In fact, if you try to start rpc.cmsd maunally (as root), you get:
% /usr/dt/bin/rpc.cmsd -s -d
rpc.cmsd: lock_it failed due to another process
rpc.cmsd: rpc.cmsd is already running.
However, rpc.cmsd is _not_ running, neither before nor after issuing
the above command. Does anyone know why it won't run? I've tried rebooting;
that doesn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Will summarize.
