Hello,
I'm having a really weird problem using rdump. I have a system
that is running DU V3.2A backing up to a DU V3.2C system. When
I first set this up, it worked perfectly. I have the setup as
follows...
on the DU 3.2c system (tape server system)
the tapeserver /.rhosts file has the client system name and username.
Tried using just client system name in the .rhosts file just to get it
running with no success.
/etc/rmt is linked to ../usr/sbin/rmt
/usr/sbin/rmt has a protection of -rwxr-xr-x, ownership of bin bin
as does the client rmt
on the DU 3.2a system (client system)
I tried adding the tape server system to the client /.rhosts
although it doesn't really need it.
I just do the command...
/usr/sbin/rdump -0u -b64 -f tapeserver:/dev/nrmt0h or rmt0h
or /usr/sbin/rdump -0f tapeserver:/dev/rmt0h
and I get...
Login incorrect.
Permission denied.
rdump: Cannot establish connection to remote rmt command
rmthost(): rcmd(): Error 0
Terminated
I can do this fine from an ULTRIX client to the DU 3.2c system.
This was setup up about 3 weeks ago and worked perfectly. Just
this week it started bombing. Can't think of what could have
been changed.
I also tried playing with the hosts.equiv file and rsh with the
same error.... Permission denied.
any help would be appreciated. Will summarize.
thanks,
Allan
