SUMMARY: 100base-TX for Turbo Channel Alpha 3000/300X

From: Martin Lally <mel1003_at_phy.cam.ac.uk>

Dear all,

The response to my inquire for a 100Base-T turbo channel card for a 3000/300x
Alpha was No, there is no 100Base-T card available. One suggestion is to
install a FDDI card and then connect into the 100Base-T network via a FDDI/
100base-T Bridge/Gateway. This would be suitable if a cheap FDDI/100base-T
Bridge could be found!

Thanks to all you replied.

Martin.

I'm sorry to just be a(nother) "ME TOO" request, but I'm out there looking
for the same thing and so far the only solutions I've found are:

o ditch the 3000 and get a PCI machine.
o install an FDDI adapter run it through a converter to 100baseT.

Neither of these options is acceptable. Although you're in the UK and I'm
in the USA the situations look very much the same in terms of solutions.
Please let me know if you find anything and I'll be sure to do the same
for you.

Dear Martin:

I asked this same question about six months ago and the only replies
I got were in the vein of "please let me know too if you find one."

So don't be too optimistic.

Best wishes,
Peter Stern

Sorry - but the answer is there is no such animal. If you can prove me
wrong, I'd love to know about it.

Mike

Larry,
There's none that I know of in the Digital range, but a good
solution would be a 100/10BaseTx repeater/switch of some kind.

There are no 100-bt turbochannel boards on the market, and there
are no plans for any that I know of. The only way to get 100 mbits
on turbochannel is fddi.

Martin, please don't forget to summarize your answer. We also would love
to put 100base on our Turbo Channel alphas (3000/800, 3000/600).

There are none, to my knowledge. This question had come up a couple
of months ago on this list, and the summary at that time was that
there are no 100Mb/sec cards for TurboChannel machines.

i've asked about this a few times and basically digital keep telling
me "we're never going to release a 100base-tx card for turbochannel".
digital do of course sell PCI 100base-tx cards for the alphastations..
Maybe someone third party will do it. sigh. let me know if you get
any farther.
