Hi,

1)

We recently installed 100Mb adapters in our alphaservers 2100 and connected
it to a Cisco switch. Since then, some messages appear at the console, coing
from the kernel:

vmunix: tu0: FIFO buffer underflow. Data thresold raised to: xxx bytes

Where xxx is 256, 512 or even 1024. What it this ? does it hurt ? How can I
fix it ?

2)

One of our servers is configured as an NFS _client_ to a Novell Netware 4.11
server running Netware NFS 2.1

Sometimes, when a user copies a file to the nfs mount point, he gets a
message like:

cp: i/o error

After that, he retries the cp command and everything works fine. We will
have to automate some file transfers and I don't like that kind of errors.
What is the cause and how could I possibly fix it.

3) Bonus questions

I don't want to bother you everytime a message comes from the kernel, for
example, see question 1. What am I supposed to do when a message comming
from vmunix shows up on the console ?

Is there a manual explaining the meaning of such messages and a way top fix it ?

                                        TIA!
