Hi all,
I asked about a strange message I was seeing on my DU4.0 system and
a related user quota problem.
Thanks to Peter Stern <peter_at_wiscpa.weizmann.ac.il> for pointing me
to run quotacheck -guv on the filesystem. Sure enough a ton of quotas
were fixed. Thanks Peter!
I had tried vquotacheck previously (don't know if I mentioned that
in the original post) but when I look at the manual page of quotacheck
I am informed that vquotacheck if provided for backward compatibility
and will be removed sometime in a future release. If that is the case
how come vquotacheck isn't a symlink to quotacheck or something? grrr...
What annoys me is that none of this is mentioned in the release notes
what *doesn't* annoy me is that Digital have finally made it so that
user x can type quota and it will figure out what kind of filesystem
they're on (ufs, advfs etc) and give the correct info, unlike previously
where quota would insist you didn't have a quota if you lived on an
advfs filesystem.
