VT420 DB25 pinout:
Pin 2 - TXD
Pin 3 - RXD
Pin 4 - RTS
Pin 5 - CTS
Pin 6 - DSR
Pin 7 - SGND (Signal Ground)
Pin 8 - RLSD (Carrier Detect)
Pin 12 - SPDI (Speed Indicator)
Pin 20 - DTR
Pin 23 - Speed Select
VT420 MMJ pinout:
1 - DTR
2 - TXD+ ("Held in mark state (-) when characters are
not being sent. In modem control modes, sends data only when DSR and DTR signals
are on.")
3 - TXD- ("Provides the common ground reference potential
for transmitted signals TXD+ and DTR")
4 - RXD- ("Provides the common ground reference potential
for received signals RXD+ and DSR)
5 - RXD+
6 - DSR
6 being on the offset key side.
Here's how the signals go through a H8585 with a H8571 (8 pin MMJ to 6 pin)
signal DS90M H8584 (MMJ) signal H8571 (RS232)
. (RJ45) (MMJ)
RXD GND 1 1 4 DTR 1 20
RXD 2 2 5 TX+ 2 2
TXD GND 3 3 3 TX- 3 7
. 4 4 6 RX- 4 7
. 5 5 * RX+ 5 3
TXD 6 6 2 DSR 6 8
DTR 7 7 1 4 tied to 5
DSR 8 8 6 6 tied to 8
