two CDE questions

Once again, forgive me in advance if this is an RTFM issue, but I've not yet
found the correct FM to R :-)

1) CDE Remembers what windows I had opened when I exit the session, what size they
were, and the location on the screen. HOWEVER, it always piles up the icons
for those windows in the upper left corner of the workspace. I use different
sized and placed windows for different activites, and use the placement of the
icons to allow me to pop open the one I need. It's annoying to have to
re place the icons every time I log in. Can CDE do that for me?

2) The click'n'drag and double click cut and paste feature of CDE is different
from any other x-tube I've used in the past. Is this behavior customizable?
For example, on my previous X-tube, double clicking on the first part of
bigfile.text would hightlight the bigfile and leave the rest. CDE does not
seem to care about punctuation, and does it all. This I admit, is a wash
since sometimes I want the whole thing and CDE is easier. On the other side
though, if I click and pan to hightlight a few words, then decide I didn't
do it correctly, and don't click to turn off the highlighted area, but instead
try to redo the cut, CDE trys to paste the selected text, even though I'm using
   the left mouse button.
