It turned out to be two
problems. The first was relatively simple and everybody
who replied pointed it out:
I needed to define spcc.com as local to dagonet.spcc.com
in the sendmail.cf file - Cwspcc.com
That allowed me to receive mail to user_at_spcc.com.
The other problem (send mail out through dagonet) was a
little more well hidden - I had to go through the config
file pretty closely to notice that it had originally been
set up to send mail through a gateway simply called
spcc.com. When the MX record for spcc.com was changed to
point to dagonet, dagonet would not talk to itself. Once I
changed the config file to go directly to the remote host
instead of thinking it was going through a gateway
everything worked ok.
Thanks again to everyone who responded and a special thanks
to those who then answered more in depth questions.
