I just got my new AlphaStation 200 4/166 and I am about to install both Windows-NT
and DEC UNIX 4.0 on this baby. (DKA0 currently contains DEC UNIX 3.2G, DKA300 will be NT)
I am a bit puzzled by the console commands and the two console firmware versions ARC and SRM
explained in the manual.
Table A-6 on page A-15 in the user manual suggests that it's possible
to have both ARC and SRM loaded (set os_type NT or OSF)
If I read the update appendix E, I read that the Flashrom either ARC or SRM.
So, my quistion is , what's the use of 'set os_type NT' in SRM and the
Switch to DEC Unix/OpenVMS in the ARC console ?
If only an firmware update from CDROM to switch between consoles is possible,
which I'm afraid is the only way to switch,
how harmfull will that Cycling/wrinting be on the FlashROM lifetime ?
Thanks
