Subject: Highlighting in postscript files
Date: Monday, September 23, 1996 5:16PM
Hi All,
I've got a DU4.0 machine which has a couple of text to postscript
converters, namely pstext and mp (big on numbers). When I shove the output
of a man at one of these converters (eg man vold | pstext > filename) and
then look at the output in ghostview/ghostscript, I get highlight stuff
coming out looking like - "[1mvold [0m" .
The terminal viewer, qvt, handles this with a colour highlight, but the
printer doesn't seem to want to know about it at all and outputs the
characters verbatim
ie [1mvold [0m.
I looked across on an Ultrix 4.4 system and noticed that man there output
underline characters, which were handled by the printer but discarded by
qvt.
I assume that this must be a fairly common problem that has been solved and
solved again, perhaps a solver would like to enlighten me as to what the
solution is.
