Last plus command

Hello,

Does a tool exist, based on the last command, that will extract entries
for a specified time or range. That is, it would be nice to ask

last -l 9610011000

Where last would output everyone that was logged on Oct 1, 1996 at 1000 hours.

Or, ask

last -s 9610011000 -e 9610011100

where last outputs everyone logged on Oct 1, 1996 from 1000 to 1100.

I don't have the last source code for DU -- this would be a simple modification.
