I need to find a network management platform that will run native
on an Alphastation running DEC Unix V4.0A.
Any ideas or war stories welcome.
I am looking for something functionally equivalent to HPOV since it does
not run native on DEC UNIX.
I'll want to be able to add on other specialized packages as well. I'm
really starting at ground zero here so I'm being a little vague here on
purpose so as to encourage replies.
My network consists of Sun Solaris 2.5.1 boxes including 1000E, 20's
5's, DEC Alpha's 1000's, 255's, Cisco 2514 router, Cisco Workgroup hub,
Cisco 100BT hub. Clarion Raid5 disk array, Win95/NT.
Of course I'll want to manage from the network down to the desktop.
Event traps, alarms, logging features, graphical GUI for stats, etc.
And yes, I am going to check out DEC Polycenter Netview. Does anyone
love it? Is Computer Associates now selling it?
What management tools, in general, are people using on a DEC Alpha?
I'll summarize.
