Modem and XWin prob again

Hi Gang!

In April I wrote:

At the time, I fixed the problem by adding the following line to
/etc/auth/system/ttys:

host\:0|host\:0.0:t_devname=host\:0:t_xdisplay:t_login_timeout#0:chkent:

...where "host" is replaced by the name of the system attempting to
run the XWin application.

I've recently upgraded to release 4.0 (from 3.2c) and this solution
no longer works. The FAQ says to add a line like the following to
the file /etc/auth/system/devassign:

host\:0|host\:0.0:v_devs=host\:0,host\:0.0,host.sub.local.domain:\
  :v_type=xdisplay:chkent:

...where host is again replaced and sub.local.domain is the fully
qualified domain name.

It still doesn't work.

The documentation is pretty vague on these files and DEC support seems
pretty fuzzy on the subject as well. I'm having similar probs with
a modem connected to /dev/tty00 which allows login, then disconnects
with the message:

"Terminal is disabled. See account administrator"

If anyone has any clues about what I'm missing, I would be forever
grateful. I've been playing with this in dribs and drabs for almost
two weeks now and no further along than I was when I started.

Cheers,
Lyn
