The advise was to keep trying, and eventually it will work, or switch over to
C2. I need to understand the implications more before switching over, but I now
have a quick fix.
Many thanks to everyone.

Original Note;
We are migrating from ultrix to dunix v3.2-d & have noticed a few differences.
I've noticed that now passwords have to have an uppercase character.Is this
something that can be turned off ?
We have some automated process's that connect using FTP, but who can only pass
lowercase characters...
Many Thanks

Summary of replies..
You can call the passwd command an insist with your lowercase
password for four times, after the fourth the lowercase password will be
accepted.
Try to use C2 Security. With C2 Security you can put what you want in the
password.
