How to recover an LSM disk group with a failed disk

I already opened a call at DEC support but I taught I'd try my luck
here. So here it goes :

After a disk crash on an 8400 running ASE, the server just hung big
time (couldn't get to console by <ctrl-p> and had to use the good old on/off
switch to restart) I had one of my ASE disk services go mad.

Since the failed disk was part of a disk service configured with LSM
and ADVFS, the LSM disk group got deported. I replaced the disk with a new one
but this one doesn't have the LSM "private" information on it. Of course, I
can't get the "private" data on the failed disk. Now LSM will not let me import
the disk group since one of its disk doesn't have a proper configuration.

It's rather easy to replace a failed disk when the disk group is
imported but I have no clue on how to proceed if the DG is out of the LSM
config. I tried copying the "private" section of another disk but I end up
with the same disk Id for two disks. I could try changing the disk Id but I
don't know the Id of the failed disk.

Does anyone know how to get this little guy back with its classmates so
I can get this service back on track ???
                                        Bye..
                                                ...Louis
