/var/spool/mail file locking problems - DU <--> Solaris

Hi,

We are using a DU3.2 AlphaStation as a mail server for a Sun Solaris 5.5.1
workstation. The Sun mounts /var/spool/mail using the following line
in /etc/vfstab:
rocinante:/usr/var/spool/mail - /var/mail nfs no yes actimeo=0

If the user of the workstation opens a Sun mailtool, no mail can be
delivered from the mail server. binmail gives the following message:

binmail: cannot lockf /usr/spool/mail/hammond

and defers the message. As soon as the remote Sun mailtool is exited,
mail is delivered. If the mailtool is not exited for 3 days, mail
is returned.

The DU mail server implements file locking.

Is this problem fixed in later versions of DU? Is there a solution?

TIA,
