Basicly my problem was that I could easly telnet from one net to another,
but not the other direction. I experienced a long delay prior to getting
the login prompt.

Gustavo came up with this reply:

>Do you have a nameserver at prod net? Or is it configured
>for a name server but there is none? Try adding your host's IP address to
>/etc/hosts of one machine of prod net and try telneting to it. If the
>problem is gone, your name server is failing to provide the reverse
>address to prod's computer.

>Usually, whenever you telnet to someone, it tries to find out the
>computer name from its IP address (sometimes for logging but mostly for
>a fancy view of the who command).

Basicly I am having a reverse look up problem as he suggested. Until
such time as that is fixed, I have just changed the order of the lookups
in /etc/svc.conf to use local, then yp, then bind.

Thanks to all.
